 UConn's Wadudah Nurul-Islam won the discus throw (141'-2") and the hammer throw (185'-10") to lead her University of Connecticut teammates to the team title at the 2001 New England Championships.

The University of Maine edged host University of New Hampshire at the 2003 New England Women's Intercollegiate Outdoor Track Championships, contested May 9-10 at the University of New Hampshire. Maine outscored New Hampshire 78.5 to 77 points.
Maine's Vika Rybalka shattered the meet record in the long jump to lead her teammates to victory. Rybalka soared 20-10.75 to add almost a foot onto the previous meet record. Other winners for Maine include Claire Poliquin in the high jump at 5-5 and the 4x800 relay in 9:13.74.
UMass's Brandy Green also established a new meet standard in the pole vault, clearing 12-3.50 while Central Connecticut's Jessica Kelly's windy 11.82 surpassed the record (11.84) in the 100m.
